I think (and I might be mistaken) that the battlechest is only patched up to 2.4 or something like that..We are currently on Patch 3.3.5. So unfortunately u will have to do quite a bit of patching. If u not Uncapped, the best bet would be to grab the client from someone in Jhb and just use ur activation keys from the games. If u buy the latest expansion, Wrath of the Lich King (+-R300), u will save with a bit of patching too. So it is up to u :)

Just chat with OC he can get u the complete client up to date patches the works. I have a 10 day trail for you to give it a go before registering the battlechest.

Hehehe See thats not my problem, Im currently doing Loremaster on my mage, and i need 283 quests in Kalimdor then Im done. I just also leveled a paladin to 80, have various alts all over the show. Hmmm maybe I will create one on LB. But i have nightmares of that server :P

Or I can save up and transfer my 70something original (i.e. first ever toon) over to LB. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

sorry confused. Whats the point of buying the battlechest if you can get it from someone?
 
Nope you need to buy it hunny, but get the game files from someone so that you dont have to dl all the patches. Cos even with the battlechest you will need to dl a fair few of them.

You still need to Activate the content online which you can only do with the Serial numbers. Thus you can have the full client but only be able to level to lvl 20 as thats the trail cap. Trust me bro, battlechest is worth it. Plus u get 30 days free time to play.

How big are we talking patch wise? A few gigs? 10 gigs?

U can download the client off the net (or get it from someone), but u will still need to buy separate activation keys for Vanilla (original WoW), The Burning Crusade (First Exp) and Lich King (Second Exp). So u can get the full client i.e. patched up to Lich King, but u won't be able to access the content that comes with it if u have only activated the Original and Burning Crusade WoW..Hope that makes sense :)

Wicked, I think I will get it then. Can I activate my 30 days once I have dl all the patches, that might take a few days :p

lol sort of makes sense :p

Ok lets say I buy the battlechest which I plan to......then I just need to patch and I am good to go? All I would need to get then is the lich king if I wanted at a later stage?
 
Umm honestly not sure, think my game folder is something between 13gigs and 18 gigs at this point . . .

And if you copy the files from a friend, you dont need to do the whole install 10million disks routine, just copy and play :P Its how we normally share it with everyone and they just copy it over. Just make sure you dont take their interface folder and to delete the WTF folder as well :P. Game will add them automatically again when you start the game.

Especially if they are an addon addict like me. . .

That is correct :) It will ask u at some stage to enter the activation keys and create a battle.net account. Once ur done with that, u are good to go :)
