Howsit okes and okettes...

I spent the whole morning in prison. Have I mentioned how much I love my job? :/

In prison as in jail? I hope you avoided the showers....

Yep, "the big house."

Busy doing designs on renovations & repairs. Spent the whole morning doing measurements etc. inside in between the inmates. Checked them playing boardgames they drew on their bedsheets spread out on a pavement and using bottlecaps as markers. Someone managed to sneak 2 dice into the venue. Quite something.

They're very chilled if you treat them like people. I'd hate to think what some of them are in there for. But yeah - trust me, you don't want to go to jail.

Scary shit. Was the like a guard with you or what?

/Sigh

Moving our shit from here to the UK can cost anything between R5K (Which will take 70 days) or R15K (Which will take 14 days.) Looks like I might have to leave the TV here. :(

Nope, they just open up for us. It's very chilled in there. The inmates know we're there to improve their living conditions, so there's no intimidation etc. whatsoever.

Sell your TV. Buy new cheap stuff in the UK which will have the correct power adapters AND warranties. If I were you I'd flog everything that wasn't essentials.

Pretty much what I am planning. The Wedding gifts are the biggest issue & all our books.
Red's dad is in shipping so maybe he can give us a good deal on getting the stuff we have to take over.

Yeah, chuck stuff in a container (usually cheaper if you can fill it - even with other people's stuff going the same way) and let the ship take it's time.

Trust me on this, try and cut down to as little as possible to take over, pack the essentials ship the rest, and if it takes 2 or 3 months (took my stuff 3 months to get to sa from the uk and it costed me about 400 pounds for 2 tea crates.) Make a list of the books, keep the ones with true sentimental value, I promise you can pick them up for next to nothing in the charity stores. Stuff like TVs, kettles, microwaves and so forth can rather be bought at Argos and Ikea for cheap.

If/When this relocation takes place I foresee us doign some major spring cleaning.

Use to live there also remember ;)

I am only thinking of the truly essential stuffs. I have one of those silver foot lockers in which i will put alot of our crud. There rest we will take over in suitcases. Might even leave my PC and just take our laptops for the first but, though Im not overly keen on that idea.
