St elmo's suck so bad:mad:

They have such awful bases and the last time I made use of their services there was a mosquito burnt to a crisp in the middle  Now, a freak incident like that, there's not much you can do, granted. Service also sucked epically.

I prefer pizza perfect
/drools.

I prefer a fantastic Italian restaurant called Persello's. The site needs work but I don't care. The pizzas are absolutely as close to perfect as it gets without me making it myself. Wood-fired, thin, crispy base, absolutely mouth-wateringly cheesy and full of flavour.

Absolutely love their pizzas. I've yet to come across a single place that rivals them and, I'm happy to say, the more 'commercial' pizzerias like Debonairs (is that even really a pizza?), Roman's, St. Elmo's, Butler's and whatever else are in no way comparable. It's like comparing excrement to cream.

Eh. I live on top of a Butlers and they just got too expensive and insited that they deliver even though we are right on top on them! St Elmo's runs average pizza and I like their double deal for R99. I suppose I could also go to the Roman's down the road if I want pizza...

I do love those little Italian restaurants, they do make the best restaurants.

Debonairs is the most pathetic excuse for pizza (and food in general) I've ever come across. I complained to their head office once about how shit the food is, and the franchisee came to my work to confront me

There pizza's are so bad. And scooters

I should add though that Vini's is a sit down place in Bedford Center. 500ml Draught for R16 too :D

Also another good pizza I had was in the Radium, one of the oldest pubs in Joburg. The Radium Beer Hall

Yeugh....

You poor, poor bastard...

I've tried all the ones I've listed above and they were all so bloody mediocre and the problem is always the base: it's defrosted, it's not fresh and whatever the hell they use as the pizzaiola (the tomato-based sauce you smear the dough with) is rubbish.

Giefs me fresh dough and wood-fired pizza and I'll be happy.

I know, I know. However, the St. Elmo's near me has sorta upped the quality, the pizzas are hotter, with the consequence that the cheese isn't one huge fsking lump that pulls away as soon as you bite the tip! We used to make pizza in our oven but the seal around the edge broke so we can't use it and the landlord is really shoddy about fixing the place up. It's was his stove. And the light fitting in the hallway is so old that the plastic has literally crumbled from when I changed a bulb. that's been there for 3 years now . /rant

The pizza perfect near me have very nice pizzas. Bases always done perfectly. And never stingy with the toppings and cheese. run by chinese people.

haha... Sounds about right :p

I used to stay in Tyger Valley at Tyger Falls in the Riverside Lofts complex. Lovely apartments but they're all pretty much falling apart from the inside out. Landlords cared though. Much better than my first town housie I rented. When we moved out (my ex and I) the slag never gave us our deposit back. Never use trailer trash as your letting agent!

As for pizza: Gorgonzola, mozzarella, chedder, feta (yes, lots of cheese), garlic, onion, peppadews (the peppadews and the Gorgonzola work beautifully together), sun-dried tomatoes and chilli =

Also, I always make a mozzarella, feta and garlic pita with my pizzas because it just goes with it so well as a starter.

I'm also very fond of my spinach, feta, asparagus, garlic and mozzarella pizzas, but the top one gets priority.

As for banana.... I've been thinking of an onion, sun-dried tomato, banana, pineapple, asparagus and aubergine pizza but will have to wait until I have my own place again before I make pizza again :)

I don't mind them on my pizza. But pineapple can GTFO.

Pineapple is great on pizza, but it depends on what else you have with it. Pineapple and avocado won't exactly gel :D Generally, I don't like pineapple on my pizzas either.

hmmm... I'm prepared to try. I'll never say no to a pizza, no matter how... 'common' :D I totally reserve the right to criticise it, however.
