I have two spreadsheets. One is a master asset list with asset numbers on it. The other is a hardware audit done of a specific department and includes asset numbers. I have been trying to think of a way to compare them and update both lists in Excel since
just after 12pm, but am at a loss as to how to do it.

Hence the brainache.

There are macro's and the like you would have to physically code urself to do it easily, but just writing them would take more time than simply getting a second screen and going through the list line by line.

Add area numbers (departments) in your case and filter.
