I call bs, dont think he is dead.
Well I never really used the 1 much, but also thought it just be a big smart phone, but its more than that.
Its the perfect bridge between a laptop and phone. A laptop can be bulky whereas a phone is just to small for some things like movies and books.
I watched a full movie in bed last night all streamed from my pc, occasionally flipping to my mail when i got a alert.
It really is an awesome device and there are tons of cool apps.
Now I am just waiting for a jailbreak and this iPad will be epic

Yea I know that, I played with one over the weekend (Ipad). I wont use it for everything. I have my pc for that. I just want the Kindle as a book reader. Besides IF and WHEN I go for a tablet it wont be I-anything. The Blackberry Playbook is the one that has caught my eye.
But for now all I want is a decent ebook reader - my cell is great but the screen is to small. Plus the glare off the screen from the Ipad put me off using it as a ereader.

Even is you just want to use it as a fancy ebook reader it still way better than the kindle - you can read comics or graphic novels on it, use it as a portable movie/media player.
There is a reason neither the Slate nor the Xoom has over taken the ipad, its value vs cost is perfect. Where tablets like the Xoom comes in at a flat $800 you can pick up a 16gb wi-fi only ipad for $500 odd. Also nobody else has managed to bring the optimal UI to the table. When i get to the UK the Ipad is high on my list.
