internal, bought it in 09 so theoreitically it should still be under the 3 year manufacturer warranty, was playing shift 2 last night and it just locked up. after numerous restarts trying to boot in 7 or xp proved unsuccesful eventually booted into ubuntu on the other drive and it showed up but didnt want to mount. eventually took the drive out ran it upside down and it eventually worked
