Challenge: To explain memes

I suppose you could say they are just sayings or other random stuff that spreads within a culture, eg the internet. Internet memes are things like lolcats, "all your base are belong to us", trollface pics, "OVER 9000!!!!", the Challenge Accepted guy above, stuff like that.

Hmmmm ... well ... basically, when I was hired here, certain understandings were reached. Basically, they knew when they hired me it was going to more or less temporarily (over an extended period of course), and that my future plans didn't include the company.

In any case, I just got the whole speech about how they see me as a bigger part of the company's direction and how they're going to get me more involved in driving our strategy (not that I'm entirely sure what it is) etc etc. I'm like ... did you guys forget my final plan was to GTFO? That hasn't changed.

Did you tell them that?
Just be straight with them.

Eish...I have had one of those. On the bright side, they didn't fire you. But ya, companies do that stuff...see it as a compliment, you are valuable to them.

We're having a meeting next week about all their plans, and I'm sure it will come up for discussion. I've already been here longer than I planned for to start with (my time range for leaving at the latest was the end of this year, but thanks to Unisa's range of continuous fuckups it's going to take longer) - and I believe that may have been a catalyst for the current decision.

They probably think I'm in a comfort zone.

You're right - it is a compliment of sorts, but I've got to look at it from both sides. I appreciate the sentiment, but it runs completely counter to my personal plans.

If you don't mind me asking, what do you do for a living?

What happened with unisa, I'm also currently doing my degree through them.
