Ogz, this day couldnt go any slower. Im half brain dead today :( I got some white clouds over the weekend for my 30L nano - the fighter in there sulked for about an hour tho since he isnt used to sharing space :P But he is all happy now. I also finally got my hands on 3 T5 8W grolux lights - R360 :S But so worth it! I will take some pics tonight to show you :D

What's wrong with that? It's just a thread name bru....

A lot of people already stated that you can't have a favourite band because there is just too much good stuff.
 
It's meant to be a statement that there is one band that had such an influence on you that you still listen to them today. Like the guys saying Maiden and whatnot, that's music that has had an impact on them and stayed with them for years ...... not just what you're in the mood for at the moment.

For a band to make an impact on you, you have to listen to them first. Sometimes you disocover a band and it has an impact on you immediately, which will last for a looong time. If you know what I mean.

I know what you mean ..... but, I can also tell that some of the posters in there are of the "Ooh I like until the next in thing" variety :/

That's true dude, but as you mature, you music taste also evolves. Well, with most people. Some bands will always stick with you, but as I said, music is a very personal thing. People's personalities are also vastly complicated and I think some people are always looking for new music to consume, as you said, to fit their current mood. Some of my mates are like that.

I hear you man, but I just can't judge them too quickly, as music very personal to me, and I take it that everyone feels the same way.
 
I dunno, I just think that if someone takes music seriously, then no matter what their current preference is, they will still have that one defining band. Like with me, NIN put me on my path to the one genre I love and I will always consider that band the best of all time. And I am one serious mofo about music ....... maybe too purist but that comes with age I suppose.

See that's the thing. For some people it's different. I used to be purist, but now my taste has expanded into all genres. I look for any good music, no matter what the genre. I'm not talking Justin Bieber and shit here, but I listen to so many genres of music. I also have my defining bands, but they defined my life, not my genre. I am also serious when it comes to music, I love it, it's part of me.
 
Hey peeps, I rate everyone from jhb should plan a weekend away with mates and go to Mountain Sanctuary park for a weekend!! :D my mates and I are going again next month, just because this weekend was like ORSOME!!! :D
 
I'll listen to a few/a range but only really love one ...... there will always be only one type of music that has the most memories for me. Yes, other types of music have memories attached but not as many. That is what I mean by purist. The dominating genre that sits on your ipod or w/e for weeks at a time :D
 
Yeah, I hear you. Although I have to say my dominating genre changes between 3 types of music. Sometimes it's drum % bass, which I love so much :D, rock and metal. But in between I listen to lots of other different stuff. Ranging from old school to the most craziest of contemporary stuff :D.
