Local distributor and retailers chime in on the trend of game prices in SA ahead of the launch of the year’s biggest (and priciest) game, GTA 5

However in reality South Africa do have one of the best pricing points of games out there. Exchange rates incl it is usually cheaper for an American to buy a game here than it would be in the US, if my memory of current rand/dollar exchange rate is accurate (8.5 - 1)

Yeah just surprised Incredible Concuction and Musica didn't have their pricing or anything there since they are one of the bigger game suppliers.

Might be clueless but still one of the top gaming retailers. From what I understand they offer 10% discount on all preorders.
Until a branch of BT opened up near to where I live I used to buy from Musica quite a lot.

Current Exchange rate is over 10 to the Dollar that's over 30% loss in the currency from where it was a year ago.

But so are the patches that fix all the bugs in the game and server issues because the developers were rushed by the publishers.

Correct me if I am wrong as I hardly ever use any of my consoles, but was MGS4 not close to R1000 on launch when the PS3 came out all those years ago?

I thought it was still standard for PS3 and Xbox games to have pricetags upwards of R650.

i remember paying R700 for Forza 2 and Halo 3 upon release and bioshock was R720
