I had the exact same problem!! Just use heavy attacks, block and then use a heavy attack again. That way you will take his health down easily :).

I'm stuck on the boss fight in the beginning of chapter 3 :mad:!! I just can't kill the

Omg...I know I'm late coming to the party...but I just got the witcher and it's rocking my fkn socks off! at first it took a little while to get into, especially with the horrendously steep learning curve, but I'm loving it now! It's AMAZING!
 
Ok, I don't know if anyone agree's with me, but the only criticism I have about this game is the waypoints...I spent like 30mins looking for Sile! sigh...found her though and the awesomeness continued! Just got to the At a crossroads mission...Can you actually kinda skip all these if you

simply follow Triss to recover your memories? Can you just ingnore Flotsam's problems? Probably not...it almost seems like you have the option to in dialogue!
 
I'm having problems, again!

How the FUCK to I kill the dragon/Saskia?! I've been stuck on this boss fight for a month and cannot kill her!! I've got a silver sword that deals between 30-34 damage... Please help!!!


2. Why are my frame rates dropping so badly?! I was running the game on medium-high no problem! Now I can't even play on low! The game is just running so slowly :mad:!! Why is this??
 
Got my copy I won from the exclusive comp and loving it. Took a while to find the right graphics setting tough, to get the right balance between performance and looks with my 8800GT

Most of the problems I'm having is related to how fast textures load.

Have you updated your graphics drivers?

Is your 3D card possibly overheating?

Make sure you're anti-aliasing isn't too high?

Got the latest driver, made sure the GPU has enough airflow plus I even tried with no anti-aliasing! I've still got this aweful problem :mad:!!

The thing is when patch 2.0 came out the game was running silky smooth. Then I got stuck on the boos fight I mentioned, then I tried lowering my setting to get just a few more FPS. When I went back in the game I had worse frames than when I started off :eek:!! And before I even changed to lower settings I saw that patch 2.0 enabled uber-sampling!! Now that is turned off and I still can't play :wtf:?!

I'm at a loss!

You should get a better sword. 30-34 is barely mediocre for the end game. Get the crafting schematics for Zerrikanterment from Bras of Ban Ard in Loc Muinne.
A good skill to have 2 points in for the dragon is Feet Work. I'd even go so far as to say it's one of the most life-saving skills in the game. I just finished the game (2nd time) on hard, drank all my preferred pots right before the dragon fight, potion effects just ended right before I finished her off. So it can be a long fight. I used about 40 grapeshot bombs on her too. You don't have to get her health all the way down to nothing. When there's about 25% left (I think) you'll get a cutscene.

I can't help with your graphics problems, can only suggest you try another hardware heavy game. There is not yet a patch 2.0 as you say, the latest patch is 1.2 and it didn't change performance for me.
 
I wonder if the story Changes alot depending which choice you make at the end of the first Chapter.

What do you guys think of the Quen Sign...?

Before I maxed it out with venting I was really struggling, Now I can tank quite alot especially considering I keep increasing my vitality! :-D

I maxed mine out, it proved to be a real life saver.
 
I really need to start playing this game again, it is feeling neglected. It is just a pity that I don't ever feel like playing it when I actually have the chance. I guess I have just lost pluck :(

I enjoy this one quite a bit, but i dunno sometimes when I have this on I cant always block, is this coz of the fact that it absorbs damage anyways?

You have to have Vigor to block and when you use Quen your Vigor stops regenerating until the Quen wears off. It's easy to quickly find yourself unable to block if you use Quen and then other signs.

Well, I can't really say for sure what happens if you choose Iorveth, because I'm not sure what difference it makes to the story. All I can say, however, is that after that Iorveth plays a bigger role and if I remember correctly, I only ever saw Roche once very briefly after the big decision.
