The Witcher 2 publisher may use Ubisoft's DRM

too fucking bad killing people is a crime, honestly, all pirates would die if it were possible...

Okay use the DRM, I just wont buy the game then. I've experienced the horror of this type of DRM :(.

You Witcher fans have my simpathy. I went through quite an ordeal with Splinter Cell: Conviction

My advice....... crack the shit out of it.

ja as much as i hate it, buy it LEGALLY then crack it. f this crap, it's just sad that legit users need to resort to crap to use their game...

Thats the wrong attitude to take. Rather do what Isengard said, don't buy it, but cracking it is only adding to the shit storm.

lol, like those fools who stick together and 'not buy' mw2 ? sigh it would only really work if no-one pirated it and not buy it. then we would have them...

Yep just like that. Maybe the RPG crowd has more balls than the FPS crowd and can pull it off this time.

That is some seriously fucked up shit! I will still buy it legally though, and then crack the shit out of it. Stupid publishers and their stupid DRM.

I don't see the point in not buying the game because of the DRM. The game will be awesome in spite of any DRM it comes with.

Yeah true but have you ever really struggled with DRM when you quickly wanted to get a game in before or after work, but can't since you cant (put errors and server explanation here)

Still interested in The Witcher 2 since the first one was awesome and if it has always on DRM will still get it but make sure to get a way to crack it when their servers are down a few years from now.
Take witcher you cant upgrade it to the updated version because their server is offline.

Also did not buy the always on DRM from Ubisoft since I am looking for what happens in a few years time will their servers still be online for me to play or not.
And what happened to 3do can happen to them as well.

Knowing cd projekt and considering one of their gog game selling points is no drm I seriously doudt they will allow such a drm system. Even if they do it won't stop me getting the game. Never had any issue with ac 2.

Developers response from twitter:

There are a lot rumors regarding DRM & hardcore security of The Witcher 2... Guys, nothing's decided yet and there's nothing to worry about!

Our distributors commented the Ubisoft-like DRM securilty solutions, and we're receiving a massive feedback about... http://bit.ly/bdV80L

I also doubt that CDProjekt will allow Namco to do this. They are an awesome developer that care about their community and they know it will piss the fans off. The Witcher even got a patch that takes away the DRM. That being said, even if they do use this DRM or some other even more screwed up one, I will still buy the game, more than once. I want to support CDProjekt as much as possible so they can keep on making the best games in the world :p

Umm, going to wait and see on this one. I am trying my best to avoid these DRM companies (will get harder and harder as more jump on the bandwagon), so I may need to resort to cracking an original product only IF I deem this worth a purchase (likely). Sadly running 3G, which is fast enough, but not always so stable, I would be forced to crack an original product... What an odd world we live in.

Let's wait and see. Perchance this is nothing, and as usual the gaming world spaz's out at any smidgen of news before it is founded.
