Thermal Grease/Paste/Compound

Hi Guys (and Girls).

I was wondering what thermal paste or grease you use as I would like to apply a new paste as mine is running on stock paste. What matters to me is performance (temperature) and availability in SA (and Cape Town would be nice). Price doesn't bother me much as long as it does what it says on the packaging.

Thanks for the help XD

Stock paste does the same thing as fancy paste, so unless your upgrading you're cooler or your having temp problems leave it alone.

Well technically you should be doing preventative maintenance before the CPU gets overheated. I replace my compound once during the life cycle of my machines, usually after 3 years.

That wasn't his reason, his reason was its stock paste, not old paste :p
But there I agree with you if it's maintenance but its not really an upgrade.

According to those charts, MX-4 is actually somewhat better. I couldn't find AS5 for love nor money when I was putting my build together.

Sybaritic and Landmark PC stock it. I got mine at Zaps, but I see you're in Cape Town, so go for either Sybaritic or Landmark.

Thanks. Are they reliable?

Aaaand....so does Sybaritic XD

Best locally available is Antec Formula 7 Nano Diamond Thermal Compound.
I absolutely love the stuff and I have noticed its much better for overclocking than most locally available thermal pastes.

I would however love to get my hands on some Coollaboratory Liquid Ultra.

Why does Artic Silver 5 perform worse than the less expensive one? Makes no sense..

That you'll have to ask them, I have never been a fan AS, like I said the Nano diamond paste rocks.
I've used it for years and the temps have been fantastic.

Phoenix Tech stocks the Coollaboratory Liquid Ultra:

I'm currently using the AS5 and it's kept my temps low, albeit I haven't used any other compound so I can't offer a comparison.
