im stuck trying to hunt down all of our users that have Symantec Antivirus software installed and all that... and my boss tells me this now and he says he wants it by either today or tomorrow.... and thats a list of about 300pp that i have to track down.... no way in fsckin hell am i going to do that.....

Why is having Symantec Installed wrong?
 
Symantec have some serious looming compatibilty issues, specifically known bugs with secrurom protection suites
I know Stardock issued a fix a while back, but if thats how it worsk, we might have some severe clashes once Win 7 hits.

I don't think he meant its wrong though, might just be for a security update?
Unless he works for the mob and his boss wants him to find Symantec users and put them on "ice", then I'm afraid Fenix you're on your own

Make logon script to uninstall if it exists

then have fun with the shutdown -r -f cmd :D

Otherwise, the Symantec AV app on the server should have a log of all computers that has it installed

its not that its wrong to have installed but we have to pay our account and i have installed it on i dunno how many machines and now they tell me I was supposed to have a list meanwhile i only started beginning of the yr and I have no records of any machines that have it installed.... this is frustrating....
 
It all becomes clearer.
@Dixie. Since i only use my laptop for work and the internet a bit of a resource lag isn't so bad, not that i have experienced any.

We did the same

Symantec fails. Its always outdated, the Virus database hardly ever updates, it doesn't do anything to the virus if the current user hasn't got admin rights...

It (as Dixie said is a resource hog of note), if it ever has an update it takes for ever, and downloads to each machine as opposed to a central source then downloaded to each 'client' machine

/me hates Symantec

Only problem is I cannot see the users that are located at our branches so there is another problem im having to face when it comes to hunting them down :(
 
Oculate, why not Dl it to the master server and use an easy proxy of having the drones update?
Saves bandwidth :)

Ill admit im no fan of it either, but i got it for free so its ok, first sign of prob's though and it gets the boot.
 
Jip Symantec sucks i have it on my work machine and it just fsuck everything up.....

i get about a million spam viagra e-mails everyday and it doesn not even block them eventhough i have added rules to keep from getting any.... it also sees some of our custom wrote programs as virusses and deletes important files making the programs useless.

i cant wait for IT to come and install something else....
