XFire is basically an in-game IM (voice/text) client which simultaneously counts up the hours that you play certain games. It also lets you take screenshots and vids that it stores on its servers, lets you see framerate, time, etc. Also lets you set up game servers with other players and stuffs...
I think it's awesome and it comes in handy more often than not
Oh, and XFire's site (including screenshots and vids) is mirrored locally by akamai (or whatever). The chat client itself isn't though.

Chat client servers are international, the website and everything on it (vids, screenies, images, etc) is mirrored in ZA so they're local.
There's also a MyGaming group, started by Lydon.
