The people with the most vitriol are those condemning IW for the move, without really thinking about why the decision was made. Azimuth was pointing out some of these reasons, and few people took any notice. If anything, she is trying to shed light on the situation.

Do you agree with the general "Ill just Pirate MW2 now because it doesn't have what I want" sentiment? I see a problem with this way of think, and its routed in an unhealthy sense of entitlement that we have hear. This is what she is opposing.

I see your point about the tone, though. I do think that these articles could probably be more effective if they were less sarcastic/brusque.

I remember, specifically with the piracy article - it's difficult to even bother writing up a response when you 1) have the admin and 2) the article's author posting their convictions in the thread. And please don't misunderstand me, I don't mean that in a nasty, spiteful, snappish way at all. I just mean that it feels intimidating - as though if you even bother writing up a response, you'll be shot down or end up in a confrontation with two people who have some significant say in the forum... It just feels like you're doomed from the start. I think that kind of thing is not only intimidating to me, but new would-be posters as well...

As a writer, Azimuth's posts are interesting to read and, more often than not, blissfully controversial. But it's difficult just commenting on what everyone else thinks, and what you think in a thread, when anyone whose opinion contradicts hers gets into a snot-nosed fight. I wish tehnihilist was here to give his opinion as well. He's another who feels the same way, and doesn't see the need to post when you can tell from a mile away that you're going to end up in a battle of egos and self-justification...

I was gonna answer but Ly basically summed it up in one go. I have also found some of Azimuth's articles funny, informative, etc so it's not a personal vendetta, I just don't agree with the combative behavior (for this forum). I don't have yourself or Fenix or Rusty jumping down my throat when I say something you may disagree with but Azi snaps fingers and I get harsh PM's? Blame me for my perception?

We also have to realise that people pirate, no one is ever gonna end it so why have countless flame threads that put a negative slant on the forum? It's no use people in power having a go at the members who pirate, what is that going to achieve other than to chase them away.
 
When me or Tinman or Rusty post a "lets keep it civil" or "Lets take a step back" that is aimed at everyone in the discussion.

I agree to a point with what Lycan said. Check out the MW2 Situation got worse thread from last night. I wrote up a response to what she said and used an example and all of a sudden im attacking her and she starts asking if ive ever done an honest days work in mylife. Thing like this pull away from the topic being discussed. Azimuth is very quick to voice he unique opinion and often its appreciated but when you start having your own opinion which isn't in line with hers she is very quick to start throwing little insults around. She also jumps on her hight horse very quickly the moment something is posted that she interprets as being aimed at her.
 
The whole priracy thing is more about wanting to play the SP of MW2 but not willing to pay so much for something half-baked.

For me. It's part self entitlement, i have standards, and i'm gonna do everything i can to screw over those who don't diliver to my (and alot of other's too) standars.

So its bit of both.

The flaming and fighting and warzing is just people who don't think before they poop through there mouths.

Ly's post was very insightful, and I understand what he means. This is a serious concern, and it will be addressed.

The only time I pmd you, was when it seemed to me that you had made a personal attack on Azimuth. Its not like I threatened you, it was more of a personal request too you to stop perpetuating an apparent personal vendetta.

You explained the situation, and I apologized for the misunderstanding. I thought we had moved past this? When I do these things, it is not about casting blame. I simply want whatever is happening to stop.

Please bear in mind that I do not have time to follow up every complaint I get to the extent which I would like. So I usually take the complainants word for it, and politely ask the offender to cease what they were doing. Again, I did not mean to threaten or offend you, I just wanted it to stop because I dont have time to field complaints like this on a regular basis, or get involved in petty disputes.

As for the piracy. While as an organization we remain neutral on most things, we have to be opposed to illegal activities, especially those which are damaging the industry which this website depends on to remain viable.

We will therefore always openly, and unapologetically condemn piracy.

I only used it in the context of my post ..... I have moved past it and see it as a non-issue now ;)

I think the solution is simply not to post forum links to her articles.

This way, those who enjoy the articles can still read, and we can avoid getting into nasty and pointless flame wars.

You have a good eye, maybe judge her article before its posted to see if its going to cause a flame war.
 
That's all I was disliking .... and it's not even only Azi. Like I said, I love argument, it's healthy ... I just don't want my fave site to go overboard and be a 24/7 flame-fest :o
