I must admit, I'm also not a fan of vday or most days that are meant to celebrate life benchmarks and the like, but because of the type of person I am I will use those days and ordinary days as excuses to celebrate outside of what the rest of the world is doing :D

"Celebrate everyday" is a bit silly IMO but celebrating certain things more than the days the world sets aside for conventional "celebration" of those things is much better.

Edit:
Essentially what I'm saying is, screw what the world is doing and expects you to be doing and rather do what you feel like doing. If that's being all lovey dovey, great, doing nothing? Just as great.

you go hipster dee :D

Dee's a hipster.

Can bits of plastic that accidentally melted to the connection of a SATA HDD cause instability of the HDD?

Last year (while performing maintenance on my PC), I ran into a situation where; when I turned on my PC after cleaning out and re-cabling of the wiring, I saw and smelled smoke. I immediately ripped the power cable from the PSU, but, parts of the cords had already burned through. I couldn't fathom what went wrong, as everything was properly seated and properly placed.

Anyway, since that day, I'd been having problems with that SATA HDD of mine. Had to format at least once a week. Now, as a result of what'd happened, bits of the SATA cable's connection had burned to the connection pins of the HDD. Not much, but enough to do damage. I gently scraped off some of the plastic. But, I also do think that the motherboard had a contributing factor as well.

Any thoughts?

P.S.: I'm getting my PC next week and will be performing an installation of Windows 7 Ultimate thereon. Do you think what I mentioned will have an effect on my new PC as well?

Unfortunately, my old (reliable) HDD is an IDE, and there are no IDE ports on my new mobo, as a result, I'll have to buy a SATA to IDE converter.

I'd try to just get a new clean hdd dude

As I already spent most of my earnings on buying PC parts, I sit in a jam. Can only really hope nothing too great happens.

Edit: I just need a stable installation of windows on a drive, and I'll be good. My external holds all my files - EVERYTHING!
