Hah. Wait until you walk into a board-meeting, aged less than 30. Board members just refuse to take you seriously. Most vexatious.

And yes, Eugene is a total colonialist bastard, not letting you pull the race card... :p

Psssh, I was in those boring corporate situations at 23 ...... with long hair, tribal earrings and dressed only in black and they didn't try kak with me :p

Those who guess, normally guess 3 years older on average. But the thing is, people don't usually think about it during interactions. But when it comes up randomly in a conversation. It's like "holy crap, you're much younger than I thought, you had me fooled."

I feel like some bacon

I guess I can't do it now since you've taken the surprise factor out of it :p

Now, now. No need for a temper tantrum. Here, have some warm milk.

FFS, I'm 37 and I still don't get taken seriously! At least it's not that bad at work...

anybody here know about Electric Fences ? mine is making a loud clicking noise. i investigated and ound that some of the fence wires that touch neighbours yard are clicking and sparking about once every 2 seconds. this has only started recently, say about 2 weeks back. prior to that, it was fine.

here is the odd thing. i touched the WALL (which the wiring was sparking against) and i could FEEL the electric charge. how the heck is it that a brick wall can conduct electricity ? is it not earthed properly ? why did it only start happening now ?

I don't know much about electricity apart from death and light. But our electric fence did do that the whole clicking thing, which means either contact is broken somewhere or it is making contact with something that it shouldn't be making contact with.

Very open minded of them. Try that shit over here and they'l be on the phone hiring an old priest and a young priest before you can say "Sisters".

That is indeed a winner.

Here's a little something I always find intriguing. People will interact with you and pretty much get a sense of the kind of person you are, the kind of opinions you have on certain topics, etc. Eventually your age comes or they get curious about it, you tell them, and right then and there, you're a different person. 7 out of 10 times I'll get responses like, "wow, you're so young, stop having opinions of older people", "I didn't realize you were this young, why aren't you acting your age?", "Oh, wow, still in the immature years of your life then?"

Like seriously, is age that defining of a character trait that people immediately assume that if you act a certain way that deviates from what your age-group has you pegged as, you're trying to be different or older (essentially not being yourself) and need to act younger than you do (whatever the crap that means)??? Interesting how people color their perceptions of others around them.

The wisdom of the timer strikes again :p. It's a societal thing though. And it does tend to vary from culture to culture. I doubt that people back home would remark at your apparent "oldness" at all.

You should obviously move the fencing clear of touching anything it shouldn't be. Switch the fence off first. with all the rain we've had I wouldn't be surprised that the charge is travelling through the dampened wall.

did you just leave it, or did you get somebody out to fix it ? if the latter, any recommendations ?

I had someone come in and fix it. When it made that snapping noise, it tripped the perimeter alarm...so someone had to come out and look at it.

Fuck. That.

It's one thing to be asked to prove yourself and your ability in the board room, it's another to be dismissed because of your age.

have you ever had it where you find out something really mind blowing but cant tell anyone ... it sucks

It's shorting on something. If you're not sure exactly where, try looking at night and you should see a spark. As suggested, clear anything that is touching or very close to the fence (while the fence is off). And as Mattt says, the bricks are probably full of water from all the rain, which would make them a little conductive. What that makes me suspect though is that what might be the problem is that one of the little plastic mounting things might have perished, and the wire is making contact with the pole, or a wire might have slipped out of one. Maybe check that out.
