Just sent this to the UNISA ombudsman. Hopefully he doesn't just ignore it because this module is an absolute joke and I don't pass it I don't pass programming either. :(

I just want to send an email with regards to the maladministration of the EUP1501 module, which is causing countless of us no end of grief.

Right from the word go, trying to get information and instructions for this module was an absolute nightmare. Many of us received a simple CD with almost no instructions on and were then expected to figure out how the module works and what is expected of us on our own. Communication with the lecturers of this module has sadly been almost impossible.

We were then divided into groups of students and had to work together for certain assignments. The problem is that many of us do not have access to the learning material on the my.unisa site. I have not had access right from the start and so far have had to rely on fellow students to get all the information regarding assignments. I have emailed the EUC department regarding the fact that my Learning Units tab on my.unisa is empty, but I am still awaiting a reply or action from them. Today marks the day for the 8th assignment, yet I still do not have anything in my learning units tab and I do not have the information required to complete the assignment, much less do I have the instructions for the assignment.

When we receive instructions for the assignments, they are usually so vague that none of us are entirely sure what is expected of us, as parts of the assignment instructions seem to contradict each other.

My group tutor has also non-surprisingly been almost entirely absent for the duration of this module. As of today, the last day for the assignment, he has yet to create the discussion forum within which we are expected to complete the assignment.

This module is not up to standard for a tertiary institution and I would be grateful if you could look into it, as it is a cause of endless grief for many of us. Just have a look at the discussions surrounding the module on sites such as StudyNotesWiki to see how many people are having issues with this module and it's lack of proper administration. As someone who has worked in the IT industry for numerous years and is struggling to make heads or tails of this module, I can only offer my sympathy to those who are not as computer-literate as I am and who also have to suffer through this module.
