Good morning people.

Mr 44, what type of learner is your kid, they normally learn via different sensories, hearing, touching etc, if you can identify which one the kid uses it may make your job easier.

I think she's visual 'cause she had trouble understanding fractions until I took an apple and cut it into pieces. Then she understood it pretty quickly.

Are they teaching rocket science to Grade 1 kids now, since it surely cant be hard for her :p.

No, but Mrs 44 have some trouble interpreting the questions. For example (I'm too lazy to draw it, so here's a description):
Picture of a machine with a big (-5) on it. On the left is four pipes running into the machine and on the right is four coming out.
On the left, infront of each pipe is the following numbers: 8, 4, 5, 9.
On the right is just four _'s.

She couldn't figure out what to do. Luckily I didn't marry her for her logic skills.

Think it was Quantitative Measures for Statistical Analalysis or at least thats what the book was called, I think, it was 6 or 7 years ago... Fsk I am getting old.
Quantitive Measures is very close to Ops. Interesting subject. I actually passed the 2nd year of engineering maths without going to class. Was kicked out by the prof cause a guy next to me made fun of him and I burst out laughing. Was 1 of 2 that passed it first time. I went afterwards to his office and told him that he sucked as a teacher because only 2 passed and 50% of those did not attend his classes :p. He was not impressed.

A guy with the hugest afro just walked in to the store, damn his hair must have been standing about 15cm in all directions. Special kind of bravery for that imo

You need to install some sort of camera, pronto. Bonus points if he was a ginger.

So if I am right the answer's are 3, -1, 0, 4 or am I also wrong :p

Quite right. It's a single rule applied to the inputs and you need to give the outputs.
They also do grids like:
___ - 2 ___ +1 ___ *2 ___ /2
8
7
5
4
9

It's actually pretty advanced for grade 1, imo. I think in my time we played with clay, drew pictures and had fist fights during break.

It is advanced all we did was 1 + 1 and 1 - 1 with apples dont remember having to do minus numbers like -1 or -3.

I always loved math, but algebra is the devil's soup. Where the hell did you see the alphabet in math?!

Basic algebra is useful in understanding programming. Working with variables etc.
Once you get to trigonometry my brain pulls itself into a fetal position and goes "na na na na na!".

I am the exact opposite, I love trig but algebra is a vile beast :p
