A little help from somebody that is more up to date with twitter than myself, please (got a rep for you if you can help and I'm allowed to).

I only use twitter to follow people but my eldest decided to follow me.
I have never tweeted anything in my life (twitter agrees: 0 tweets) but suddenly she's getting "messages" on her blackberry in the twitter app claiming to be from my account. Spam ads for weight loss and making money.
What type of stuff goes to the twitter "messages" tab in the BB app?
Anybody seen something like this?

I don't like the idea that some spammer can send tweets faking my credentials because it sure as hell didn't come from my account.

Are you sure your account hasn't been hacked? You should try changing your password.

Absolutely sure. I did change my password just to be sure, but twitter shows that tweets from my account are still 0.

It happens if someone is following you and they tweet something then twitter sends updates. I think she can disable it in twitter account settings.

I'll have a look, but this is full on spam with a body like this "WOW I made $4000 in a day from my computer! Click here to find out how!" and it shows that it's from me. Anyway, I've changed my password. I think the problem is on her side because she gets the exact same message from more than one account.
Probably something that checks who she's following and then fakes messages from those accounts.
