Time for a fascinating statistic.

Yearly, we have +- 16,000 homicides in the R of SA.
In Norway there were 29 murders last year.
Iceland has on average 2 per year (only 1 so far in 2013).
Monaco is difficult to get stats. The only murder I can dig up is one from 1999.

And right you would be.

If SA had the population of:
Norway (29 murders in +- 5,060,000) we would have 1,528 p/a.
Iceland (2 murders in +- 322,000) we would have 97 p/a.
Monaco (1 murder since 1999 in +- 37,000) we would have 11 p/a.

Count your blessings. In Iceland, they have 2 murders a year and they've only had one to date. The year is nearing it's end and they are still 1 short. People passing each other in the streets, looking each other in the eye, all the time wondering: "Who's it gonna be? Who's next?"
