OK, Murph, I can't keep quite about this. I'm bringing it to TK because I don't want to get between the delicious fight that is brewing between Lyt and Fivel (again) and this is off-topic in that political thread.

We pay taxes through our noses so that people shouldn't have to live in pigshit and squalor - not so that Minister A can enjoy a beluga caviar starter with his Pinot Noir.

There is no other way than to just come out and say it: Caviar counts as fish. So you want a white wine with it, not Pinot Noir, which is red. Our politicians may be corrupt, but they are not barbarians, dammit.

flip the National Credit Act is driving me insane... there are so many variables to charging interest and what rate you can charge and what not and when the NCA does apply, blah blah blah

maybe he's having a kobe beef filet mignon main and doesn't want to mix his drinks

EDIT: Caviar actually goes with champagne/sparkling wine :p

I'm actually of the opinion that politicians will order anything, even if they don't appreciate it, just because it is expensive.

If he's having beef for main, caviar as a starter is a questionable choice, at best.

Agree with the Champaign sentiment. I feel even a light (color, not alc%) beer is a better choice than wine. But what do I know? I'm from the Freestate. We eat lamb chops for breakfast.
