Speaking of pools, does anyone know how to get total alkalinity up to a good level and stay there without stuffing up your PH in the process?

Fuck that, I'm getting one of those instapools :D
Do those even exist anymore? I remember the days of burying one of those trying to make a 'permapool', until the inevitable day it springs a leak and floods the hole and everything collapses.

Yeah but there has been many improvements over the years :p

If you have a concrete pool, go the Blu52 route ....... may take 2 weeks worth but it will take and when it does, oh easy heaven. If you have a fibreglass pool, well sorry, enjoy the algae :p

Have a pool you mean?

(I'm assuming that's what you mean from the tone of those exclamation marks)

No - i mean i have no idea how to do that PH thingy you were talking about.

Ok - you didn't get the Monty Python reference there.

Do you have a chlorinator?

No, it's just a regular chlorine pool with a sand filter. It's fiberglass so the TA is supposed to be even higher than what it needs to be with marbelite pools, but it keeps dropping, and if I put in alkalinity-up, then I have to add acid to fix the PH, and that pulls the TA down again, so I have to add more alkalinity-up, and then more acid etc etc. It's a huge pain. At the moment it's sitting on about 30ppm but it should be something like 120ppm (should be 80ppm in marbelite pools afaik)
