Dohc - as for clothing accounts - I have one at Edgars, Woolies, Foshini and Truworths. Altho I stopped using the woolies card since they don't give you 6 months free of interest. If I can't pay something off within 6 months I can't have it.

As for my CC, the limit is R5000 - just enough for those oh shit moments that you NEED a CC for, otherwise I make a part payment with the CC and the rest via EFT. Once it is paid off, I am planning on putting cash on there so that I can use it without owing monies.

And then Dohcie - dai video. . .

Freaked me out cos I had a nightmare last night where I could have sworn there was someone in my room just standing over my bed, watching. I was awake for most of the night after that, constantly checking every door and window and the alarm.

My approach, just have a positive balance at the end of every month on the CC.
 
I tend not go into debt. If I can't pay for something in full then I won't have it unless its something like the monthly costs in a service or a car maybe a bond but I am going to be living in barracks for a long time so all of that I won't be needing to worry. My pounds will grow nicely in the army so I will have a nice amount when I am done.

That is what I am aiming for now, I will be at that point in exactly 2 months. And the best part is all my other accounts are officially clean as of yesterday. I noticed on my statements I over paid into 3 accounts, got the money back and used that to pay off the rest of the accounts.


I want to be debt free by Jan and at this rate I will be starting the new year with a clean slate.

The competition thread is like this for me....

8 people start a race, you have a few on the sidelines watching. When person X wins the race person Y who was on the sideline says "Why was i not allowed to race as well, this is not fair i want my trophy"

I feel for you, you won't ever feel that adrenalin rush of getting to the 30th or 1st and getting those nice sms's from the back with the sad face emoticon that informs you about your impending doom as yet another account is emptied out completely :) good times.

I have some CC debt because I use it online. But I never go so far into the red that I can't kill it at the end of each month. Apart from that, I have bond and owe money on only 1 of my 2 vehicles
Can you spell "financially responsible individual", mofos? :cool:

Hhehehe I have no car debt - le woot for buying second hand - that has been paid off for a while now. I had some CC debt since my hospital plan doesnt cover my lovely dentist. But now that everything else has been paid off and I have my Unisa funds saved up for next year (and a very very very very small savings account - still need to look into where to put my savings tho since the ABSA money builders are useless these days.) I at least can say I have no major debt - my CC is at R1k to pay off as soon as my salary comes in.

But I am one of those who live with a budget and if the monies isnt there then I dont get a nice new mobo or gfx :P I now have enough for a oh shit moment. But still wanna improve on that situation. I just can't wait to find a better paying job someday. Cos living from pay cheque to pay cheque is hard some days.
