Where will 'USB 3.0 - 2.0 Cable Adapters' be sold - locally?

Not sure if this is a troll post or a serious question.

If it is a serious question, the only logical thing I can think of is that you mean the USB3.0 port you will see on USB3.0 external/portable HDD's. See Exhibit A:

Exhibit A

If that is the case, a normal micro USB 2.0 cable will still fit into this port. See Exhibit B

Exhibit B

Where will 'USB 3.0 - 2.0 Cable Adapters' be sold - locally?

Type A plugs and receptacles from both USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 are designed to interoperate. Type B receptacles in USB 3.0 are larger than required for accepting a USB 2.0 Type B plug. The larger USB 3.0 Type B receptacle accepts both the larger USB 3.0 Type B plug and the smaller USB 2.0 Type B plug. Accordingly, a USB 3.0 Type B receptacle on a peripheral device can accept the corresponding plug end of a USB 2.0 Type B cable. Type B plugs in USB 3.0 are larger than USB 2.0 Type B plugs. A USB 3.0 Type B plug, therefore, cannot be inserted into a USB 2.0 Type B receptacle. Accordingly, USB 3.0 Type B plugs cannot be inserted into normal USB 2.0 Type B receptacles found on peripheral devices.

A receptacle for eSATAp, which is an eSATA/USB combo, is designed to accept USB Type A plugs from USB 2.0 and USB 3.0.

Hope that clarifies it

My current tower has (1x) USB 3.0 port on the front. My new case will have (2x) USB 3.0 on the front. I wish to use those, but cannot 'cause my motherboard does not support 3.0.

The ports should still work as USB 2 ports then, If I am not mistaken.

So it will have two ports on the back, plus a connection for the front USB 3.0 ports as well? Is it USB 2.0 compatible?

Those cards usually have a header or two on them as well. If your box have USB 3 ports on the front, you need not worry about USB 2 headers, you just run a USB 3 cable directly from the ports to the card.

BTW, the cable you are looking for will be called a "USB 2 header to USB 3 port cable" or something along those lines. AFAIK the cables are not very common locally, but you will find one if you put your back into it.

Oh noes thread killer went off topic. How can we ever fix it again? :p
