1. (a) It's gross income in the 2013 year end. The company is entitled to the proceeds from 30 march and as such the full amount is taxable. The proceeds is the Market value received of R10 000.

2. (b) The R4 500 000 cost price would have been claimed as the expenses became due, as such the cost price is allowable. Since the proceeds of the Insurance claim will be used to replace the lost revenue it will be taxable as gross income.
