so i just go my bill for my ER visit over easter weekend(luckily my medical aid has paid for everything) but the shocking thing is the 2.5 hour visit cost R1992.75....

I've heard worse - but yeah it's ludicrous what they charge. I mean, the combined cost of my finger op was just under R35k

omg R35k??? that is just insane...

best of all i compared my er visit with the other chick here in the office(althoguh it was for 2 completely different things) she went to an ER at another hospital in Alberton which also belongs to the netcare group and her total bill came to R657.89.... and she was there for longer and got morphine given to her intravenously...

Yeah thank god Discovery covered it.
I'm not sure how they calculate what and where but all I know is someone is having a laugh somewhere.

Ja this is why i have medical aid, cause if i had to go to a public hospital i woul d probably have suffocated to death...
it also shows you how they nail you on where you live... i basically had a choice of going to 3 different hospitals as they are all within a 10km radius from my house... i shudder to think what i would have had to pay had i gone to the Sandton clinic

But im fine now... bronchitus is gone, asthma flares up every now and again especially when small kitty insists on sleeping on my throat... but once the kitties are done shedding their summer fur i shall be fine. nothing that Allergex cant fix though(or actually delay) :D oh and the super strong new asthma pump
