Hello, fellow hitch-hikers on the information super highway.

Today is Friday. I don't care for I am still on leave. I have not logged-on to leave puddles on the batteries of you working-class citizens, however. I am here to share a tale of woe (if not wow) and to lift your spirits.

On Tuesday I took my little soft-roader for its 75k service. The vehicle is still covered by a service plan but the additional costs amounted to R1900. They told me, however that all four tires need replacing. They also told me that the spare tire is fine because they are nice like that. So on Wednesday I replaced all four tires at a branch owned by the company I work for. With my employee discount, it cost me only R7200. I am going AWAY tomorrow and that AWAY will take me on some roads less travelled (by me), so I just found out that my free Garmin updates have expired. So I had to take out a life-time update @ R850. Add to that the "Days of the Dinosaurs" tickets, the Gautrain trip, fuel costs and all the rest...

Enjoy your job, guys and gals. It could have been worse. You could have been on holiday...

A (PS3) controller of mine stopped working some time ago; I thought it'd been a water spill on the PS button -- which happened -- but now it works fine. Now I'm thinking - wasn't it maybe a flat battery. What ever the case - it works now! An R800 relief...
