Morning everyone

So I took my car in to Kia to fix, and they quoted me R89000 to change the turbo, 4 injectors, high pressure fuel pump, and diesel filter. And they charged me about R1000 to have a look at it and fix a couple of chips in the windscreen.

Took it off to Alpine Turbo in Honeydew, and they figured out that it just didn't have water in the radiator, so they are going to do a service and it should be ok for about R2.5K.

Nice to find mechanics who aren't out to screw you. And they were going to replace the turbo for about R12 including VAT and labour, where Kia quoted me R25K Ex VAT just for the part.

WOW!! Didn't know Kia would be that bad at trying to screw you. Which Kia did you take it to? I remember I took my Cerato to the Kia in Menlyn once for a service, and I had to pay an additional R2000 for some work they did on the car, even though I have a full maintenance plan and extended warranty. Some dealerships are just out to rob people it seems.

It was the one in Weltevreden Park. Seems like if they don't know exactly what's causing a problem, they just replace everything because surely that'll sort it out.

hey everyone, sorry haven't been around of late. Been hectic busy with work and life.

I had a chance to setup my Sony Smartband and Lifelog thingy last night, I must say that I am impressed. ^_^

Hey bud, yeah similar story here with a work colleague's 1.9 TDI Polo. They said it was the turbo that needed to be replaced and quoted some stupid fee of 35k. He did some research on the net and figured it out himself. One of the air inlet pipes had been burned some how and was flooding the turbo. He fixed it with a BIC pin and tape i shit you not.

When it comes to anything that has a running motor or electrics i always look for a 2nd opinion.

Sounds like some people on my office, they come to me and say, 'this practice has a problem billing'.
Of course I look at them with a blank stare, like that narrows it down... -_-
