To be fair there are 120 competition whores in the comp thread and a fair number are returning. Still I think your talking about the return of your pet peeve and king of haganisms.

I really won't call all of them competition whores. If a competition draw's them into the forum, and some of them stay, we will get more people with more input, and the notions that the forum is dying will dissipate. That's probably why Jan and the team made the comp open to anyone. We all complained that there is no real activity in the forums, and well, to stimulate activity, you must draw them into the forum, and what better way to do that than by having a competition like this.
Except The One We Do Not Name (Ichigo). He is a 100% competition whore.

Yes, those lurkers may be here only for the competition, but so what? They're not hurting anyone, and so far nobody has been spamming the forums at all.
I believe that we will most certainly get an activity based competition within the next few weeks, and people are again going to complain about all the newbies. But we all were newbies once. I remember I lurked on this forum for over 8 months before making any real contributing at all. What got me into posting here was a competition, and I stayed for the awesome people.
Sorry, way too early in the morning for such debates. I'm getting coffee now

I know the lurkers aren't hurting anyone but I just feel there are a lot of people who contribute a lot to the forum and I just feel it's sucks when a guy who is just here for the comps wins vs a member of the community. That I'm saying they aren't worthy and we have an inner circle of MG elite but as minimum 5 posts in the week of the comp, just put something back.
Personally I think this is a great time for a hidden activity contest. Don't announce it but keep track of activity and announce a winner at the end of the month.
