The thing is, a long password does not necessarily make you safe. My previous Gmail password was also very long, with upper and lower case, numbers and a few symbols. It got hacked.
A while back I read an interesting article on Ars Technica that explained it all quite well.
Also, considering they had my Gmail password, which is similar to a lot of my other passwords, I had to change my password on multiple sites. So I decided screw it, and went with Password Safe. It auto generates passwords (really random ones) and remembers them for each website.
Only problem is, when I'm not home and my phone decides to forget a password, I don't know a single one
