Officially have writers block. 5000 words into my assessment and I don't even know if I am doing the correct thing anymore.
FML this is frustrating.

Ok... so I know a few of you peeps here are doing studies and such.

Had a frikkin long meeting this morning and one thing I took from it is that someone (taking it upon myself) needs to become more familiar with Linux. Where would you guys suggest I do correspondence, any specifically of this nature?

TBH, I would suggest to do the RHCE (Red Hat Certified Engineer) or Oracle Enterprise Linux course (Oracle Certified Associate, Oracle Linux 5 and 6 System Administrator). Torque IT is your best bet.

You would have to complete

RH-124 Red Hat System Administration I
RH-134 Red Hat System Administration II
RH-135 Red Hat System Administration II with RHCSA Exam
EX-200 Red Hat Certified System Administrator Exam

to be fully certified, PM me if you need more information on the courses or direction. I can guarantee you that the Red Hat and Oracle Linux certs are the best to have and is what most of the big companies are using for their back-end systems. Most of the knowledge you will gain is transferable to other NIX derivatives. Another alternative is to become HP-UX certified, but the knowledge is not 100% transferable to most Linux derivatives. HP-UX is one of the grand daddy NIX derivatives out there and will cost you an arm and a leg just to get certified on...then you still have to buy the hardware and software licenses, and the prices are cringe worthy.

Yeah, fortunately the Red Hat certs are not that expensive and should take you about 4 months at most to complete. If I recall correctly it cost about R7500 excl the examp

Sup guys how is everybody? My bike got picked up today so now all the schlep starts with paper work and assessors and all that so hold thumbs for me pls guys

thanks, lets just hope this goes civilly...

I always maintain, when leaving a company (or employer), leave with a good track record and relationship. Or as good as allows it.
Myself and a current colleague both left the same company to join this one, just at different times. The difference is that our previous employer won't even walk on the same side of the street as him. But him and I get along well, just because you showed some respect and dignity and did things properly. It goes a long way... #justsaying (I know you've said he's an arse, but isn't any employer?)

Ja i want to keep it civil, the company has done a lot for me and i am giving them extra notice time so that they can at least attempt to find someone to replace me with.

What's the worst that can happen? Written warning? Getting fired? :D
well the ass is an ass, im either expecting him to go all white in the face and leave or to shout at me....

Good luck Wenzie!
