My problem is that these one hit wonders don't. MG gets its revenue from ads or "clicks", one hit wonders go straight to the comp thread, make a cheap post and close. That's like 3 clicks plus 3 to check on results day so your looking at 10 hits max.

Regulars run through the threads regularly (more clicks) and their posts encourage other people to inspect the pages and earn more clicks thereby increasing revenue and so on.

One hit wonders don't contribute to the community or revenue of the forums, they're just parasites in my view. We need posting requirements to get guys posting, sharing and hopefully they will stay once they see how easy it is to join in.
 
Members are entering this comp like it's going out of style :eek:

New names and names that have been absent for months suddenly appear :D

Guys - shit happens with these comps when newbies win.

This is a bit silly - Cruel - but we don't know if he'll come up and claim it. Then you guys get to redraw :)

meh this argument is had at every big Comp dude don't even go there its not worth it trust me... i don't care who wins as long as it helps improve traffic on MyG

+1 too true yeah we get a few 1 post wonders but we can also get that one next regular.

I agree with you guys. I'm not against activity comps, I've defended them many times in the past after all. But it did not boost the number of regulars as much as everybody had hoped. So let the guys in charge try something different. I don't see the "everybody's welcome to enter" type of competition as a big fat I'm-not-very-fond-of-you to the regulars; it's just trying something different to see how it goes. If it works, then we all win in the end. If it doesn't, we can do Tollie-drop and sell tickets.

PS: I have a contact for a young ox if you want me to PM you the number, Jan.
PSS: That's not a euphemism, btw. I have a contact for a genuine young ox. I do live in the Freestate.

Doesn't really help the forums in the long run. Once the comp is finished its pretty dead.
