Thread of PC Woes, Troubles, Problems, and Issues

Not sure if I've already posted this but it's starting to happen again so here goes (again... maybe)

My PC seems to be very tired, because it keeps putting itself to sleep. I have changed ALL the power settings. The only thing it should do is turn the monitor off after 10 minutes. But as soon as I turn my back and it's idle for a couple of minutes it's sleepy time again and it clocks out

I have tried googling the problem but it seems the rest of the world is having the exact opposite of my problem (pc not waking up or waking up by itself)

I am loosing my mind trying to resolve a " simple solution " Under mouse options at pointer options there is a tick box to enable enhanced pointer precision that is basically acceleration. I need this off. Simply unticking it in windows 10 has the desired effect but as soon as you restart its back and selected again. I have tried the mouse fix from that mark oke and still it does this? This is absolutely destroying my aim in games because i forget about it every now and then.

Any one been able to resolve this?

Does your mouse have it's own control panel separate from the MS one?

Overheating?

Check your BIOS settings for over-voltage or overheating protection perhaps...

shouldn't, that thing has fans coming out of it's ears. but I'll have a look.

I have noticed that it doesn't sleep when there is background activity, like when I'm streaming media from it via the ps4/bluray player

Do you know which system power state your PC goes to?

Just check if its ACPI S1, S2, S3, S4 or S5

no clue. didn't even know there was different states of sleep :o

Not different states of sleep, but more in the way the computer interprets power and usage. (my understanding)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advanced_Configuration_and_Power_Interface
In computing, the Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) specification provides an open standard that the operating systems can use for computer hardware discovery, configuration, power management, and monitoring. Internally, ACPI exports the available functionalities by providing certain instruction lists as part of the system firmware, which the operating system kernel interprets and executes to perform desired operations, using a form of embedded virtual machine

To open the Event Viewer...
Start | Run | Type: eventvwr | OK

Then select Event Viewer (Local)/Windows Logs/System in the left hand panel
In the right hand panel click on "Filter current log" and set the "Event Sources" to ACPI and click OK

PsychoFish ok something is definitely wrong....

Last 24h log
Here is a band-aid fix for you

go to Advanced Settings and put a setting of 14400 Minutes there, which equals to 10 days.

This idle timeout is so long that it solves my problem.

(You can find the Advanced Settings here: Control Panel -> Power Options -> Choose Power Plan -> Change Plan Settings -> Change Advanced Power Settings -> Expand Sleep)
