well, to be frank you could always be a p*es about it and tell them to get screwed and leave. Providing you're going to "greener pastures" and bettering yourself in terms of finance and/or skills they don't really have a leg to stand on. I have been to CCMA case over similar scenario. And as far as I know not even a contract will hold up to it.

*I could also stand corrected, but this is how I understand our labour law

Do you even have a contract in place?

A few sacrifices are being made, I will travel further and get 1 day off a week (instead of 2). Also it's a '...if I don't take this job I am jobless.' Scenario.

I was supposed to be made permanent in Jan, but was placed on a 3 month contract and this is the final month. Hypothetically if I leave today, I will probably not get paid (much) and loose my leave pay of 10 days or something like that.

What I am going to do is in my second interview tomorrow ask how soon they want me and then try and negotiate it with work, if they say Monday then it's Monday. If they can give me a week then I will tell my current employer a week if they want to be full of shit. F*ck them, I will resign then and there.

They want me to give 2 weeks because other staff is on leave but they KNEW myself and another staff member where leaving at the end of the month, there is no reason for us to stay because we have no future there any more.

May just have a new job but, my current one is being full of shit saying I need to give at least 2 weeks notice. Due to two staff members being on leave (manager and assistant manager) My future job wants me to start ASAP.

The current job I have some what screwed me over and put me on a three month contract and closed the sore I normally worked at, then moved me to another branch. Now they expect me to play nice....

I will push for 1 weeks notice or leave tomorrow.

Tell them you will be leaving COB tomorrow due to you having found alternate employment. Then leave it at that. Enjoy your new job on Monday.

Personally it sounds like the extra money you would work there isn't worth it. Sure you might take a little knock, but the current position is temporary anyway. I would just cut my losses and leave there, take the financial knock and settle for something permanent at least.

But that's just me.

@anyoneinterested
I am looking for someone that does websites.
