You always have car issues. I really want to drive an Audi one day, but you aren't helping to convince me here

I love big German cars, but they age poorly. If you want to get a BMW, Audi or Mercedes get a new one with a service and maintenance plan. Then sell it before said service and maintenance plans expire. Every single person I know that has a car from the big 3 German manufacturers seem to have this type of shit either off the bat or within 2 years after the warranty expires.

Worst example is a former colleague who last year had to replace (on his 2012 BMW 320d) the gearbox, head and exhaust manifold. He bought a new 330d end of last year.

I personally prefer my Kias, both me and the wife have relatively new Kia vehicles, and I have just one complaint and that is that the radio does not have RDS.

its not that bad, i've only had to repair small minor issues apart from replacing the gearbox and radiator.

in 4+ years of ownership i have replaced (what i can remember).

brake discs & pads all around
Crank Sensor
Coolant Sensor
Coolant switch
maf sensor
Air Filter
Fuel Filter
spark plugs
window clips - both sides
plug leads
alternator regulator
Oil Filter
4 tires
Cv joints
Thermostat
Radiator
brake master cylinder reconditioned
Replaced valve body on original gearbox, lasted only a year
Gearbox Replaced (o1m's are bound to fail) (wasnt cheap )
Hazard/indicator switch
2 batteries
rear bumper - truck reversed into me

Due for replacement or repair soon
Front wheel bearings
front + rear shocks
cambelt & waterpump (major service coming up soon)

It'll be Java, which I now have to learn in amongst all my other work.

Do you have any ideas for apps in mind?

For now, it'll be just business apps. My boss wants to make some sort of notification service for a client.

its not that bad, i've only had to repair small minor issues apart from replacing the gearbox and radiator.

I second that, it seems like a lot. In the 4 years I have had my Cerato I have only replaced :

Filters (Air, Fuel and Oil)
Spark Plugs
Master Fuse (which was not covered by Service Plan or Maintenance Plan)
1 set of tyres

Same. Polo Vivo had just the normal stuff replaced with a service and then a set of tires. I'm just under 60000kms now.

a new gearbox was R50k from the agents i picked up a second hand one for just under 10k

also all the filters and the plug leads and plugs where replaced when i serviced the car

the radiator was only R650 for a golf radiator, (the audi radiator from the agents was R1800 but its exactly the same part with the same part number) the technique with owning an audi is that (audi's use vw parts) you only need a part number and then your order your parts (well most of them) from master parts or goldwagen.

Eg the coolant sensor from the agents costs R630 (only the coolant sensor) i bought the coolant sensor and coolant switch for less than R300 and its also german parts from bilstein (a reputable brand)

vs 180 000 kms, and the dealer i bought the car from was a dodgy mofo, when i took delivery of the car the tires where almost due for replacement and he sold me the car with a shoddy battery with i had to replace within 3 months of ownership

Jir. That's a tough one. That's also the problem with second hand cars, you never know how they were treated. Unfortunately, that is the most viable option for people to buy cars

My Corolla is on 220000km now :3

I've had to replace tires twice, rear shocks once, all 4 brake pads & disks once, the usual filters and things, and once had a silencer on the exhaust break off internally.

That is about it.

I would prefer a bit more power though. 80kW really does not tickle my fancy

Do you have the 3ZZ-FE engine? You can always swop the engine for a 1ZZ-FE and get the TRD Supercharger kit (which you will have to import)
