Can you still claim the stuff you only now noticed missing from the insurance?

All of it was clothing, so it wasn't insured. They took my running shoes, a leather jacket, backpack, etc. About R3000 worth of stuff in one night. Not the first time either. They broke in before and stole a bunch of stuff, but I wasn't aware that they were coming in through the bathroom window. I thought someone got a key or something so I replaced all the locks. That time they took another leather jacket, a pair of Guess jeans, my previous pair of running shoes, Wahl Clippers (?) and a bunch of other odds and ends.

All this while we've got security guards who are supposed to keep an eye on the flat complex. Just so annoying. :/

Woah! In my time here, I don't think I have ever seen Graal post in TK.

I can not deny the coolness factor. It is something I wouldn't think twice about putting in my house. Space wouldn't be an issue either because I think my wife would leave me if I bring it home.

If I could rep you, I would.

What area is this, if I may ask?

Unfortunately its happening all over now. They are taking out windows in our neighborhood, go in steal random stuff, and this while people are in the house. . . .

Walks in installs one of these.

So here they are doing this they paint your house or cut down trees or what ever then they place things ontop of the roof and then come back later at night to take the stuff they placed ontop of the roof.

Here in Pretoria East too. They tried to break into our office last week at 8pm. They knew where all the cameras were and moved them to look somewhere else (in the process, one of the idiots got his face on infra-red camera). Then not a month ago, a guy shot intruders a block from the office (which is 1km away from my house). I live in an okay neighbourhood where stuff like this isn't what you would expect.

Yea the most important thing to remember is to remove all stones, papers, bottles and so forth from in front of your house or your neighbours house. They are leaving coded messages all over to show which street, which house and which houses have dogs what kind of dogs. . . .

Ouch, dude, that's pretty bad. At least you weren't home and got hurt. Lately the burglars in our area doesn't even bother to wait until the home is empty before they break in. And it usually end with an assault or worse.

I'm not really convinced by that code-message story. Wouldn't it be easier just to meet up in a pub and exchange info or just whatsapp or sms each other? Less chance of codes being misinterpreted or removed by residents.

Ja shit, that's weird. Not the type of neighbourhood that you'd associate with shit like that.

Stellenbosch does not a neighborhood make.

What Wyv said is true though, it is happening all over. It already started getting bad when I was in my final year at Stellenbosch (2010). They broke into our flat one vacation. My brother's room door was locked, so they climbed into the roof and broke through his ceiling to get inside, making a right mess of things as you can imagine.

You also might think you have burglar bars, so you can leave the windows open. They broke into our place a year ago, the guy got in by climbing through the burglar bars. The gap is about 25cm x 20cm (if I had to guess) and he climbed through it!

Tkers got a extra copy of witcher 2 (GOG) anyone want it?

Already own it :)
