Heh. I'm a pretty happy guy in general. Except for when it comes to the whole wedding thing. I HATE going to weddings. They have become less about the actual marriage of two people and more about the fucking event. Big Concerts can't keep up with these brides. I have another two coming up in the next 3 months.

And the fun thing is when everyone ALWAYS goes: "So when are you getting married?", even though they asked me the same thing at the previous wedding.

I hate being asked at a family gathering: "So, Hagan, you have a gf (yet)?"; the answer is still: "No, but have had".

Oh the groom does plenty, he just doesn't get to make any decisions :D
ja, he pays for everything ;)

This is something that I can never understand. When friends marry at roundabout the same time, they get shitty with each other because they don't want to copy each other's stuff or are paranoid that the other will copy their idea but do it better. Same thing with venues. I hear about this EVERY SINGLE TIME someone gets engaged.
its just a thing with girls we all want that one special unique day. one thing i know is my wedding will be very unique though cause im doing seomthing that hasnt been done here(SA) before(well nothing i could find on the net)

That's why you need to be very original in your planning of your wedding - something no one else would even contemplate doing.

Get married in Chernobyl - no one will copy you.

Added bonus: You'll get to the "'Til death do us part" bit much faster.
hahaha ja will be quite a cheap wedding cause no one will want to come

I'm 100% with you on this. My (then) girlfriend (now wife) wanted to get married, but we really didn't want all the fluff that you mentioned for the very same reasons. So we just went to home affairs to make it "official" but we certainly didn't go down the whole gigantic-party-for-all-the-people-that-you-haven't-seen-in-7-years route.

To make our parents happy, we did have a small gathering at our house with close friends and family invited. We had an absolute blast and a spit braai. Was awesome.

Edit: Disclaimer: Not that there is anything wrong with you if you want to do the whole white wedding thing, but I personally think it's a big waste. To each his own though.

See if I ever get married, that is what I want. I dont want to waste thousands of rands on an event that is one day only and mainly for other people not the couple. I would rather put the money for a wedding into a fund for a house.

Nothing wrong with doing it that way, if you want to get married, do it in whatever way makes you happy. And if you don't have a huge wedding, you can always use the money you would have spent on an awesome honeymoon...

Shut up, Matt :p

I can never understand why people invite the entire world. People that you never interact with come around and cost you minimum R300.
I think you made a wise choice there.

I hate being asked at a family gathering: "So, Hagan, you have a gf (yet)?"; the answer is still: "No, but have had".

Ignore them.

And a house costs many money.

You know what really sucks, when you're paying R300 per person, and people don't pitch up

Bwahahahahahaha ike....

Ok with or without the black lines.
