If you have a limited budget you usually take what you can get. We usually buy from PnP too, or Superspar. :D

I actually can't eat that much red meat (or tomatoes). I suffer from high uric acid, so too much acidity in my blood means endless pain for a day or two - i.e. gout. Went to see a kidney specialist (one of the best in the country apparently) and he put me through 2 weeks of blood test 2 years ago to find the cause of the high uric acid. He couldn't find anything wrong and claimed I'm fit as a fiddle and even my cholesterol was better than 99% of the people he's seen in his 40-year career. So I learned to adapt and avoid food with high levels of acidity. But a steak once or twice a month is indeed a treat for me!

Does milk help while your eating steak to lessen the pain?

Steak and milk haha such a weird concept but you never know :D

Haha, I'm not sure milk will help thin out the uric acid in my blood. :p

A steak once in a while doesn't really do any harm, but when I go on a braai-binge with steak, chops, boerewors and the like I definitely feel the pain over the following 2 days. Only thing that helps is those cheap pink (pure) Ibuprofen pills. I've tried everything form the cheapest to the most expensive medication on the market and a R19 bottle of pills (roughly 50) does the trick. I pop 2 of those the day after sinning with sweet red meat and I'm a-okay.

But my wife's tomato bredie is literally to die for. I can't get enough of the stuff and it's crammed with stuff I shouldn't eat - tender oxtail and tons of tomatoes. She refuses to make it now because I cry like a baby from all the pain after I gorge myself on the stuff.

I never knew it was gout until the doctor mentioned it. I always thought I had a weak wrist due to having an operation on my left wrist during varsity still. I was klapping the gym quite hard back then and developed some intense pain in my left wrist. Went to see a hand specialist (Dr Ulrich Mennen - excellent doc by the way) who injected cortisone to see if it would resolve the problem. It didn't, so he operated and unblocked the narrowed tendon. Pain went away for a while until I exercised in earnest again a year later. Pain came back and I thought I just had a crap left wrist. Looking back now it was probably all the red wine I was drinking during my student days that caused gout. :D Now I have a scar on my left wrist to remind me of the days I had forearms like tree trunks and a chest that would constantly rip open buttoned shirts.

Well, not a good start for me anyway. Missed my first alarm, had a cold shower and then traffic.

At least Chevelle again is plus. Not even the coffee is worth it, cheap box milk :mad:
 
Morning all, I'm really starting to hate the unpredictable weather in this country :( got on the bike this morning and it was all starry in pta
Got to brits and it was like a hurricane exploded, hail rain and one massive side wind, and i'm on the bike :( got to work eventually and everything is wet all my gear even down to my boxers :(. One plus is i know my new back tyre is excellent in the wet :D

Today is gonna suck. I took yesterday sick but I'm still feeling under the weather. At least the pta sky reflects my mood.

Heartburn? Yeah. It just doesn't taste 'normal' to me.

Any of you from PE? My mom lives that side. They grown used this milk called "Steri Milk". It has a God Awful taste :|

Ugh, internet is all messed up still. If I happen to dc it takes ages and ages if at all, to reconnect. Gonna be a lovely day phoning Telskum :(
 
I wish i would be so lucky to go home :( and tomorrow is my court hearing again to see what's gonna happen now so a little stressed too so this rain and wetness isn't helping
