That's what I thought at first. It grows on you. I said to someone the other day, if I can't move to Cape Town I won't go anywhere else. It's beautiful here. Sure it lacks alot, but also makes up for a lot as well.

You know what else grows on you? Foot fungus. And the Freestate.
But that said, I enjoy the south coast as a vacation destination from time to time (Margate and further south, not Toti south). Wouldn't want to live there, I think.
Something that that caught my eye again about the Freestate today: I took my kid to a debate competition in Bethlehem and the kids at the school where it was held was amazingly polite. If you ask one of the boys a question, they would first shake your hand and go "More, Oom. Hoe gaan dit?" and then they would go out of their way to help you. This was not an isolated incident either. I shook many hands as it was a big school and a lot of directions were needed.

... I lived here years ago and its still the same, heh. Damp, slow and not somewhere to be with no transport or money to throw at shit. Deffo more holiday spot than living spot.

I've always maintained it's a place you go to; A) to Retire or B) to raise kids. Between the age group of mid teens to middle-aged, useless.
