So, had to officially cancel leave plans as client refuses to pay me if I don't have enough bodies on site over the holiday period to make them feel all warm and fuzzy. So I forfeit 2x plane tickets, a rental car and a week's accommodation in a hotel. And I don't get to see my parents this year.

...and the client doesn't care that I managed to make them a truckload of money by delivering almost all the projects is 20% of the time they bill for. They just want faces to fill spaces. Suffice to say, my team aren't exactly the friendliest bunch on earth right now, but they're willing to help out how and where they can. I'm the grumpiest I've probably been in years.

I'm just not too clued up on how the financing will work. I still have my car financed which I will need to sell, or can it be traded in and refinanced against the sellers (as his is also still financed)?

Sorry to hear that dude, that really sucks. I'm kinda used to not really getting a xmas break besides that of the public holidays. But I feel your pain, really not cool.

Dude that sucks. I hope the client is gonna pay up if they want such preferential treatment.

I would have lost my cool, I dont know how you are staying calm. I hate clients like that, they are selfish and bastards. We deal with it a lot in the building industry as well.

Trading it at a dealer they will definately give you less, afaik you will have to settle your current vehicle first and get the certificate of registration before you can sell or trade it, and then you have to apply for finance again on the new vehicle.

normally to settle you have to request a settlement agreement from the bank thats valid for a limited period of time, the seller will have to do the same settle his car first before he can sell it, since the bank holds on to the reg papers until the vehicle is fully settled.

That's not cool at all. I've so been looking forward to this December, if something like that happened to me I would probably go insane.

That's terrible. :(

I'm just so tired and so in need of a holiday that if my boss asked me to stay over Christmas right now then I'd probably burst into tears.

Problem is, I haven't had leave this year. At all. I've been working on average 6 days a week,14 hours a day since last December. I needed this break.

Thing is, we have a fixed SLA for the people placed at the client (which includes myself). So no, extra compensation isn't on the table.

They pay the bills, so they probably make the rules.

I went a little insane today. Took it out on my business partner and my 2 senior developers.

Like I said above, I went a little insane today. I'm not good company in the least right now. My wife is quite worried about me at the moment.

Well just know we are all here for you to vent at - its what we are here for

*huge hugs*

Thanks, but I'm afraid venting any more than I already have will only cause irreparable damage to my business. I've got a suspicion I have already sown more destruction today than I should have.

It's understandable though, your client does seem a bit unreasonable. I wonder how much of their own staff are going to work during that time.
