Good luck matt!! Hope you get a positive answer to your applications. At the moment the office dealing with those papers are backed up. Apparently there are over 4000 applicants with only 3 staff members. It's the reason why my VISA for Australia is also taking way longer.
How much is that costing these days if I may ask? If you have a proper uni degree you stand a great chance
Yay so is nie my skuld nie!
Skills assessment is AUD500, but the entire process of getting a visa end to end is looking like about R120K, but that's including the agent's fees, skills assessments, IELTS test, VISA application fees, medical and police clearance, etc etc etc, and at a lousy exchange rate since everything costs Aus$'s, and it's for an independent permanent residence visa, which is a really good one.
I think it's much easier, cheaper, and quicker to get a work visa if you can get an employer to sponsor you, and then apply for residence when you're there, but then you don't get the benefits of permanent residence like state subsidized health care and schooling, and if you lose your job and can't get another one within a few months, they chuck you out of the country, so the one I'm going for is a lot better if I can get it.
I do have a BCom (Informatics), so I majored in an IT subject, I'm just hoping that they don't insist on a BSc for an IT occupation. I do have about 14 years experience though, so that's something

Thanks man, good luck with your visa too then. There seems to be a lot of people trying to move there, there's a big exodus going on in SA, and Americans might also be trying to run away from Trump now. Hoping they don't start clamping down on the numbers

From some groups that I've joined just to get more info, there seems to be some big changes that was made to the immigration process into Australia. Not sure what these changes all entails, but it seems the test are all more difficult as to limit the amount of people let into the country. Luckily I'm only going on a work VISA, so my process is less problematic though
