Three million Dirt 3 Steam codes stolen and set free on the internet

Atomic facepalm indeed. If you have something on the web that has some value attached to it, make sure that it is secure, because there is always someone out there who feel inclined to check it out and take it if he can.

Free game codes on an unsecure web server? That's just looking for trouble.

It appears to be AMD's fault not codemasters.

I hope they check the date on when it was activated & don't kill any accounts that activated it a while ago. Not keen to have my Steam a/c banned simply because of their incompetence.

Those keys u gave us on the comp way back, were they legit? "whistling: :D :p
Thats kinda the problem...the keys we got are now floating around the interwebs too.

Not a problem if you redeemed it. You cannot use the same key twice. It is useless to 'them' now.

In South Africa, we have a saying that perfectly explains the responsible techie's reponse.

"EISSHHHHHHH!!!"

I know it's a long shot to expect hackers to have any form of collective consciences. (Not consciousness)

If you're going to pillage a gaming company, go for the ones who screw over customers *cough* bobby Kotick *cough*, instead of hitting the ones who actually release decent games and customer satisfaction.

For anyone who gets these Steam keys... don't use it lest you violate Steam's terms of service and have your account banned. It ain't worth it!

Sad that this happened too. :(

You're missing the point. The problem is not whether anybody else uses it but rather whether they kill all the keys on that list (which include the Mygaming ones).

Kick the correctness into their panties. You have a good point there. Go after all the guys who make life difficult for us okes who like to play games. Maybe that'll keep the rest in check "whistling:

I see what you mean. If they ban our accounts will MyGaming be able to help us?

I found this on Steam's twitter page.

Steam Support
@Asagpol No. Not everything you hear on the internet is true.

Perhaps they will not disable steam accounts?
