Time Magazine includes Farmville in list of 50 worst inventions

Of course, this sounds reasonable enough until you stop and consider that, really, “a series of mindless chores”, “endless clicking of a mouse”, and “many hours of lost productivity” describes the fundamental mechanics of just about every game ever.

I was thinking the same thing! Most games work that way, or at least in some way.

Not sure why people hate it so much - I don't play it but my girlfriend does:

* If you don't like it appearing on your FB feed, you can hide all Farmville items. It's not rocket science.
* If you are an employer and your employees are spending their days on FB then YOU are the idiot: simply block the site. Not rocket science either.
 
I agree totally with that assessment. Farmville is a cynical hollow microtransactional nightmare of a marketing exercise wrapped around a 'keeping up with the Joneses' gameplay hook.
 
I'd include most of the mindless drivel they insist on calling games that infest Facebook in that list. Kinda like Sims - only more stupid :p
 
I played it for a week. All my stuff's since died off. I have no idea why people find this 'game' so alluring. Time has the right of it, imo.
