BF2. :D Only cause I wanted to play online. These days you have to choose between a tank of petrol or a game. :(

aha ... and its gona get worst..
i have a stack of "demo" games.. that i eventually bought when they've hit garage sales...

Considering the dwindling game budgets and the massive losses developers are suffering, I don't see why people still think it's smart to pirate games.

Sure, all it costs you is a blank DVD to rip the latest PC title from your mate, but is it any wonder then why the quality of games these days is so terrible?

IMHO: buy the game and we all benefit.

In some cases I agree, but paying almost R1k for a xbox game is insane and then there is this thread... I think it's the biggest reason why most of us play pirated games.

ALso, i think that if games were much cheaper people would not have a problem buying them, if Mp3's were R1 from itunes, how many original songs would you own?
I think that there greed has pushed alot of people to this point, what kid earns R500 a week to buy games, whereas most households have ADSL now and torrents are easier to find than well, games at good prices...
Just my 2 cents

Hell if companies don't bring down the costs of games then I guess it provokes us to climb deeper into piracy :P

Almost all the games I own I ripped and bought lateron because it was just that good. I have a very select taste in gaming so I don't spend 450 gigs worth of downloads each month to download any and all games....

If I see something interesting and I have some bandwidth to waste I'll download it and play it. If it's good enough I'll buy it.

Only pirated game I own at the moment is The Day of the Tentacle. Brilliant game, unfortunately can't find the original because it's as old as I am almost :D

If they only started from the beginning in making it possible in downloading a game through torrents (for the speed) and you paid say R50 to R100 a game, then I think they would have sold more... Make it easy and cheaper for us and you will sell more games.

Lets take "The Orange box" = R400
only 20k people bought it (for arguments sake)
That is R8mil from sales.

If it was R100 then 80k people must buy the game to get the same amount. But I think more would have bought it, if it was R100.

you got a point but think about it... it's becoming more expensive to buy games than it is when you buy car parts lol...

Well i couldn't wait for silent hill homecoming so i got a pirated version but ive got an original on order..So i don't think that makes me a pirate. I think in the not to distant future(its already happening) even the people that can easily afford to spend R900 on a game would still rather pay R100 or whatever.

The reality of this is that gaming companies are going to suffer more and more if they don't reduce the pricing on games. They should wake up and realise that the global markets are in a bad state and that if they don't adapt they'll die out.

Except for the Wii :p

Ja but with the Wii you gotta buy the additional pieces if you want the full package so ur looking at paying around the same price for the games instead its going into the spare parts...

Yeah true...didn't think about that..but then again I don't care about the wii:D
