Tomb Raider (2013) discussion thread

I need your opinion guys:

My PC specs include an Intel 980X CPU @ 4.2GHz with two GTX580's in SLi - running on a 27" LCD at 2560x1440

For consoles, I have both the PS3 and XBOX 360 connected to a 63" Plasma.

I am not bragging, but I seriously need your opinion on what platform you would buy the game on in this event? I am really stuck between what platform to buy this on. I hear the graphics on the PC are amazing if you can run it properly with your hardware (which I think I can) - but then there's the "comfort" factor by playing on a huge-ass TV on the couch. Obviously if the graphics on the PC are supremely better, then it's a no-brainer.

What version would you get?

Why not plug your PC into your TV and get the best of both worlds?

That would have been a great solution, but the PC is upstairs and the TV is downstairs. I don't want to carry my PC up and down every time I want to play a single game. I suppose another thing that counts in the PC version's favor is the price.

Edit: judging that the game is still a bit bogged down by driver optimization etc. I think the safe choice here is to get it for the console platform. In fact, I've been searching google since the day this game has been released and no one has once mentioned that the PC version's graphics "blows the console's out of the water". So I'm beginning to think it's much of a muchness, and in that event the console wins hands down by being simplistic in execution. And since the PS4 isn't backwards compatible, the safe choice is the XBOX 360 version.

Thanks for the help everyone! :)

I'm running it on Ultra, without tressfx on my 2500k + gtx560ti. Averages between 30 and 40 fps on 1080p.

Mine averages between 30 and 40 fps as well, but on high at 1920 x 1200. When I turn Tress FX on it drops to around to 15 - 25 fps.

Played about an hour so far and really enjoying it, will have a proper session later today probably.

I'll run it tonight and get some fps scores going for you guys to give you an idea of what you'll need to max the game or have very playable frame rates. It is true though that it does perform better on AMD gpu's for the time being.

i5 3570K Stock + Asus GTX670 4GB 1100 Core and 1600 Mem

Totally maxed out ultra, Hair set to normal.

Min 31.1 fps
Max 51.5 fps
Avg 36.8 fps

Yai, TressFX makes very little difference on my 6870. The performance hit is 5-10 FPS at most.

TressFX don't completely break me but puts my average fps at 15-17.
With TressFX off I get 27 average fps... I really think its time to OC that i3 2120.

Games holding steady for and I've yet to see a crash but I'm also keeping my Graphics settings at high and I'm gonna try ramp up tonight.

Loving the game so far and the open map like thing works really well as you progress. It takes a while to get used to the Bow but its much better than any gun once you add the ring to your bow and get her speed up. It also makes for a really stealthy game that punishes you for being caught.
Love the fire element theme since that's the most important tool in survival is fire for heat, defence and moral and you really pick up on that when invading tombs and reaching base camps.

My only real complaint is that she sounds really squeaky and moans to much. Its unbelievable how one girl can take so much punishment and those death scenes are bad, worst one was sliding down a waterfall and getting impaled in the throat. Kinda like dead space 1 and 2.

Yeah, I'm actually getting annoyed by just how much she moans and exclaims in pain. Not half an hour goes by without her falling and moaning in pain and it became annoying 25% into the game.
