As always be aware that these are retail figures they do not include steam and other digital services, which makes this basicly a mockery since that's pretty big slice of the pc gaming sector in the US.

Wow, lotsa sims in that list, been meaning to get Sims 3 myself. I wonder if the majority of people who own Sims 3 are casual gamers or regular / hardcore gamers.

Just goes to show how shallow the PC game library is getting these days. I feel sorry for PC only gamers (the ones that do so by choice).

These sales probably reflect more the casual market. The hardcore US gamer is more likely to get his fix through steam. The sims games don't really get into the top 10 of the steam weekly charts often.

That's pretty much what I expected - The Sims 3 and World of Warcraft.

Surprised by Dragon Age being at number 9, though, considering it was released quite late into the year.

And the sims still dominates the retail sales. Why oh why is it still so popular. I bet if a seperate list was made up for digital downloads you'd see a very different looking list.

^^ Do not underestimate the power of the casual market!

But I agree. If digital downloads were included the picture would probably be quite different, as many hardcore gamers overseas (especially) would prefer the benefits it provides and wouldn't have to pay exorbitant bandwidth costs.

There's no need to run out to the store when you can just download something in the comfort of your own home. Though I still prefer owning a boxed copy of a game myself.
