Top TV Thoughts?

Hey all

Looks like TOP TV is selling in South Africa like the new Modern Warfare, has anyone got the decoder? Please post your views on the channels that are offered and what package you are currently on.

My question is - should I decided to not pay anything to them - will I still get SABC 1, 2 and 3 and ETV as a free service? (Similiar to DSTVs Easy View)

R499 seems like a sweet deal for decoder+installation+aerial+lnb to be honest..Just want to make sure about the packages that are available..

Dude, anyone with a TV and an aerial can get SABC and eTV.

Yes, but in flats or places with bad reception that's not possible. It's much easier to lump the free to pay channels onto your satellite provider. The channels are free, only take up 4 frequencies, so they should have some sort of package. We'll be sticking with DSTV as it's gonna be too much effort to have another dish installed, another decoder - and what if we're not happy with it? I am actually quite happy with Compact, ever since they added Vuzu and Discovery world and Mnet stars the the bundle :D

Getting my TopTV service installed this afternoon - got the Decoder on Saturday - so I am pretty impressed with that! We stay on a farm so we dont get good reception for normal channels AT ALL - I refuse to support MC - and TopTV pretty much offers everything I would bother watching (dont do sport). I'm getting the basic R99 package and will look at upgrading later if needed. Anyway - if we get to watch Sat TV tonight I will post back with what its like :-)

Got TopTV just to check it out. Some decent channels but I do miss all the sports channels so i'l be sticking with DStv from next month again

Does anyone know when their Schedule will be launched?

That would give an idea of what programmes they offer.

Okay so we are installed (that was on Monday - very impressed with the turn-around on that) and activated - activation took a bit longer that I would have liked (24 hours) - but anyway - we are live now. I'm pretty impressed as it suits my needs - but if you are a TV or sports fundi - then DSTV is maybe the better option.
