Total Biscuit leaving Reddit

I'm not sure where this should go, but seeing as how he is a pc reviewer I'll plop it here.

Have any of you read TB's post on why he is leaving Reddit.

Just wondering what you guys think of his post. I am a little shell shocked I must say.

I don't see why. This is not the first time he has done it.

Not because he left, but because of what he said about it- Did you read his letter?
I edited my OP to better reflect that

It was very open and heart felt, but I must say I'm surprised that someone who makes his living pointing out the flaws in other peoples work can be so deeply affected by peoples opinions of him.

Yeah I know all about his issues. Leaving Reddit is probably the best thing he could do right now. I think if he leaves Youtube, that's when we should be worried.

His letter is interesting and I hope it opens peoples eyes. I sometimes see Youtube comments that are so bad that I wonder how a person can live with him/herself.

I don't frequent Reddit so I didn't even know that TotalBiscuit was there. I love his videos though.

I hope he has less stress now because gray hair at age 29 is pretty sucky.

Sounds like he is on the brink of a nervous break down. Leaving is probably the best thing he can do right now.

Neither do I, but since he closed the comments on youtube, he moved his discussions over to reddit. I actually went on there with a mission to complain about his rambo review and found that- oops.
I've heard that anything you do, 1% will be vocally for it, 1% will be vocally against it, and 98% of people wont comment. He has 1.5 million subscribers, so each video is potentially getting 15,000 negative posts. That's got to seem overwhelming, but in context it's such a small group.

Best thing he could do if he struggles to handle negative comments is make sure nobody can comment on anything of his. I really enjoy his videos and it seems there's a good bunch of fans on Reddit supporting him after all. Im happy for him too do this as long as he keeps on making videos.

It's a pity, I particularly feel bad for his Hearthstone vids the backseat gaming in the comments is absolutely nuts on HS videos. I love most of the stuff he does, his WTF series and even the Polaris podcast all quality stuff and he's great to watch interacting with others like Dodger, Jesse Cox and Wowcrendor.

With any luck the "wall" he puts up between him and his audience works.

Well he does always try to make better videos, he has said so a few times. And there is creation involved in that. So I guess criticism can affect him as well.

I don't care much for that cesspit of dismal accountability that is reddit. I just hope his youtube videos don't stop.

Like most have said death by million cuts.

As boogie will tell you you can meet 100 nice people at a convention and only one of those 100 will slap you and you will remember that slap. But in anycase this is 2 weeks old he has already moved on.

He should do what every well known figure does on Reddit

Have 2 or more accounts, one where he post as him, and others for his normal crap posting. Just log in to the known account to post something or do a AMA and then leave it there. Rest of the time hang like the normal people.

I actually thought of what happened to the Flappy Bird dev when I saw this thread. I see that he actually referenced it in his post:

I kinda hoped that some people would realize when I did that piece on the Flappy Bird dev that there was more than a bit of my own personal issues in there. When I asked people to understand what it's like to get a bunch of attention you're not equipped to deal with that maybe a few people would realise but that's my fault, I should have just come right out and said it.

You also watch boogie.
A person can only take so many negative comments and what not. I mean that is why so many celebrities have break downs or turn to drugs. I personally think total b is a big softy so it makes sense why he will stop going there and reading the comments.

Just watch some of his vids not all.

No matter how thick skinned he is the amount from 1.5 million subs will get to you someway.

Boogie is an awesome YouTuber, I really enjoy some of his vids.

TB is awesome as well, I really like the stand he takes, but I do think this is to be expected. I don't follow his personal life, his Twitter, FB or whatever so I don't know much about him as a person. Thing is, if you're going to put yourself into the public eye then you have to mentally prepare yourself for all kinds of hate, that's just a given. I know that it shouldn't be like this, but that's just the way it is. What any personality/celeb needs to do is to distance their personal lives from work and not allow fans to become FB fans, follow your Twitter or know where you live. When you're doing your vids you're TB and when you're not you're /insert TB's real name here.

But I'm not is his shoes so I don't know what it's like, but I don't want TB to have a complete breakdown like Mark Fish.
