Hi Boys and Girls

I just wanted to find out if someone has a copy of the rules in which these manned cameras are followed, to please post up the rules and laws of what they are or aren't allowed to do.

I received a fine while driving through Belfast and ja I'm checking to see if I can argue the fine or if I should pay it.

Thanks

Usually what I do is I wait for the second final warning to come in the post, then I write a letter saying blah blah I was late for work or whatever. Then when the fine comes back again, reduced or not, I write another letter, or two after that. Sometimes my fines never came back or were reduced by quite a lot :p

But good luck with that bru. :D

I have to agree with Raven here. Don't speed. And if you do, prepare to pay for it.

Having said that, I don't doubt that some officials do transgress when awarding fines etc and by doing so enable you to get away with it. But, (yes, I used a conjunction) what really gets me is when motorists get all huffed up when they are caught. I'm sorry, but when you are over the speed limit, you know you are over it and shouldn't act all outraged and surprised when you are fined. You broke the law. Don't act all innocent etc. Go speak to someone who has lost a loved one because some schmuck was speeding and lost control or whatever and ended up killing someone and tell me you did nothing wrong.

DenSweeP, you raise some very valid points, but the OP is well within his rights to argue the point is the cops haven't done their job properly.

In my experience syco, if you call the local authority they generally will reduce the fine if you write to them.

Like I said, if the cops transgress, that gets you off the hook, albeit a technicality. The cops must also follow the rules, but two wrongs do not make a right is all I'm saying. Don't get me wrong, if I can get out of something, I will, but that doesn't give you the right to throw your toys and make a scene. I'm not saying the OP has or is doing this, I'm just referring to general.

I hear you, but if the cops do not setup their equipment properly there may not have been a transgression.

I had a fine for R600 odd mailed to me. The fine said I was travelling 122 in a 80 zone. That would have been all fine and dandy, but the zone I was travelling in was and still is a 100 zone. I flat out ignored it even after finding a summons in the mail. That was over two months ago and haven't heard a thing since.
